Notification of public meetings (2 - 4 May 2017): Draft KwaZulu-Natal Coastal Management Programme (CMP)

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) has developed a draft Provincial Coastal Management Programme (CMP) for the province’s coastal zone.  The CMP, which is a legal requirement, provides details of the current state of the KwaZulu-Natal coastal environment and identifies a vision, objectives and strategies for coastal management to facilitate improved management of coastal resources and allow for targeted investment to support sustainable coastal development.

Opportunity to Participate: The Department has appointed Phelamanga to run the Public Participation Process.  A number of public workshops are planned to give I&APs an opportunity to provide their inputs into the development of the KZN CMP. A copy of the Background Information Document (BID) can be downloaded here, and details of the Public Meetings can be obtianed here.
